About “Kemono”
What is a "kemono"?
In a broad sense, the term "kemono" refers to animal characters with human-like features.
You’ve probably seen them before—creatures that look like animals but walk on two legs and carry a distinctly human presence.
While kemono characters are often depicted as furry mammals like dogs, cats, foxes, or wolves, the concept isn’t limited to them.
Reptiles, birds, marine creatures, and even mythical beasts like dragons can also be portrayed as kemono or beastfolk, blending animal traits with humanoid qualities.
About "Kemo Level"
in the Kemono Community
Not all kemono characters are the same—some lean heavily into beast-like traits, while others retain more human features. The degree of animal characteristics in a design is referred to as the Kemo Level.
If we define a fully human character as Kemo Level 0 and a fully beast-like character as Kemo Level 5, we can roughly divide the spectrum into four intermediate stages:
Level 1: Mostly human body with minimal animal traits, such as ears and a tail.
Level 2: Covered in fur with stronger beast elements, though still visibly human in form.
Level 3: Animal features become more pronounced—such as altered bone structure and increased fur volume.
Level 4: Appearance and movement are heavily beast-like, approaching full animal form.
Please note that the interpretation of Kemo Level may vary from person to person. This scale is simply a general guide to help describe the balance between human and animal traits in kemono designs.

At Kemopla, kemono designs are categorized into three levels based on the strength of their beast-like features:
High Kemo, Mid Kemo, and Low Kemo.
The main kit includes parts to build either a High or Mid Kemo, allowing you to choose your preferred kemono level during assembly. To create a Low Kemo, simply combine the main kit with the Low Kemo Parts Set, designed specifically for lighter beast traits.
Even within the same species, changing the kemo level can dramatically shift the character’s impression. So go ahead—choose the kemo level that speaks to your style and bring your ideal kemono to life!

High-Kemo
This type faithfully reproduces the unique skeletal structure of anthropomorphic animals, allowing for dynamic posing—such as crouching or stretching—without losing that distinct "kemono" feel.
The thickness of the thighs and hands adds to its visual appeal.
By the way, kemono characters can be categorized into those with hair matching their fur and those without.
Kemopla will focus on the "with hair" type in future releases.
Mid-Kemo
The body parts are molded in colors that resemble animal fur.
Compared to High-Kemo, the sculpt retains more human-like features in the skeleton and limbs, with a subtler fur texture.
This type is perfect for those who are just beginning to explore the world of kemono figures!
Low-Kemo
You can create a Low-Kemo by combining the main kit with the Low-Kemo parts set.
Since the body is human-based, it’s easy to dress it up using existing doll clothes or bishoujo plastic model outfits—making it highly customizable and fun to style!
